Maldron Hotel Dublin Airport

The beds were very comfortable, the room was clean, and breakfast was good, though I felt it should have been included. Even so, I'd call the hotel adequate, not good value for money. We paid almost €300 for a 4 star hotel and hoped for more. After a long day travelling, we arrived around midnight expecting a relaxing drink. The website said the bar stayed open until 2 am, but we were told it was closed. The room was so small there was barely space to move a suitcase. The coffee pods and instant coffee were unknown, cheap brands and horrible, and we got one teabag each. We'd booked a late checkout, but the cleaner opened the door while I was showering, then came in later without knocking. In my experience, cleaners usually wait until guests have checked out on their final day.

The location was very convenient for a one-night stay before departure. Online check-in and picking up the key from the kiosk were handy. Inside, the lobby and restaurant looked nice, but the hotel's exterior was dingy, and the room corridors were worn and dirty. Our room also had several maintenance issues that seemed to have been ignored by management. Still, it was fine for the night.

The room was a good size and quiet, and the location and transfer to the terminals were excellent. Staff were very good. Restaurant service was great, though the bar was a little chaotic. We enjoyed the food in both and would certainly return.

This worked well as a place to stay before or after a flight, though I wouldn't call it a destination. Terminal 2 is an easy walk away, or there's a shuttle every 30 minutes that takes less than five minutes if you're carrying lots of luggage. The room was fine but small, and the low hallway ceilings gave the place a ship's cabin feel. The shower was nice. Breakfast was plain rather than tasty, but easy and filling, just what I want when getting ready for or recovering from travel. Staff were friendly.
