We had to leave early for a tour, so we ordered room service that morning, and the food was amazing. Even the rose floating in a crystal glass on the table they brought with the meal showed how much thought went into things. The food, room, and cleanliness were all excellent, and we borrowed a couple of bikes for a self-guided ride around the area. Right from arrival, they carried our bags in, then personally took us to the room and showed us the amenities. They really seemed to think of everything. I can’t imagine what else they could do for guests. I’d recommend this hotel every time, and we’ll definitely stay here again when we return to Dublin.

After two recent check-ins at the Merrion, I felt I had to write a review, even though I don’t usually do that. Anyone looking for a classic European luxury hotel experience will find it among the best, right alongside the great hotels of Paris, London, Rome, and Madrid. What stays with me most is the staff. From chambermaids and porters to the front desk, spa team, and management, everyone seemed sincerely focused on giving guests a world-class stay. The service felt gracious, genuine, and effortlessly Irish, with no detail overlooked. The dining is excellent, the Garden Room is lovely, and Bar No. 23 feels like the quintessential hotel bar. Restaurant Patrick Guilbaud isn’t run by the hotel, but it’s world-class and complements the experience beautifully. The rooms are traditional but meticulously cared for. I’ve stayed at many luxury properties, and I notice when one holds onto its past while thoughtfully fitting in modern comforts. The Merrion does this as well as anywhere I’ve visited. Modern conveniences are all there without demanding attention. You feel connected to both the past and present. The art collection is lovely, I couldn’t spot a single scuff, and the care put into maintaining the place is obvious. I’m already planning another visit in late 2027 or spring 2028, and expect to be welcomed back with those warm, sincere smiles and wonderful Irish hospitality. Cheers to the Merrion, a special luxury city hotel that knows what it is and doesn’t chase every trend. I’m looking forward to returning.

The tea and dining spaces felt elegant but still comfortable, with every detail looking carefully considered. The hotel itself has the luxury and sophistication you’d expect. What I’ll remember most, though, is how attentive and genuinely warm the staff were from arrival through checkout. I was also surprised with a complimentary room upgrade, champagne, and a beautifully written card. Such a thoughtful gesture, and much appreciated. The whole team made a lasting impression.

We loved the beautiful rooms and romantic feel at the Merrion. The stay was excellent, but at that high nightly rate I expected breakfast to be more seamless, instead of having different tiers for continental, Irish breakfast, and à la carte options. Turndown also came without a chocolate or sweet treat, which we’ve consistently had at other similar five-star hotels around the world. A few touches like those would fit the hotel’s premium positioning better.

The desserts were the best part of the night for us, and the cocktails were mixed just right. There were lots of food choices, so it worked really well for our big team. The whole area was well kept and had a nice vibe. I had a great time checking it out.
