Waterloo Lodge Townhouse makes a handy, quiet base in Ballsbridge, Dublin 4, with lots of the city's main sights within reach on foot or by public transport. Herbert Park is about a 10-minute walk, especially lovely when spring flowers are out, and Stephen Green Park is roughly 15 minutes away and a must-see. The bus stop is right outside, while the bus station for the airport is about 10 minutes away. A Leap Card is useful and affordable for buses, trams and trains. With extra time, you can walk to Dublin Castle or head to Temple Bar for the nightlife.

For the price, it was pretty okay. The rooms are on the small side, especially the shower and sink, and the windows barely open.

We might stay here again on a future trip to Dublim if there's a room available. The staff were kind and acted on our problem by moving us from the top floor, since my wife struggled with the stairs. Keep in mind that the upper floors are reached by stairs if you have mobility issues. It's a quiet spot, 2.1 km from the centre and just opposite the bus station. Breakfast comes as either continental or Irish, the room Wi-Fi was okay, and the hotel has three parking spaces. A few transport tips: wave to get the bus to stop. You can pay with coins or use the public transport app to buy a ticket for 1.6 eur that covers 90 minutes across transport; otherwise a single ride costs 2 eur. If four or five of you arrive from the airport at night, Bold or Uber straight to the hotel can work out well per person. 01.08.2025

It suited me well, though the location won't work for everyone: the city centre is a 30-minute walk. The place was neat, and we got fresh coffee and tea every day.
