The Ocean Sands Hotel

We had our Valentine’s Day wedding at the Ocean Sands Hotel in Enniscrone, and we’ll never forget how beautiful the setting and atmosphere were. Orla and the Ocean Sands team made everything run smoothly on the day, with care, attention to detail and warmth that our guests noticed too. We were planning it in less than six months, but Orla kept the whole process calm, organised and exciting. From our first meeting, she earned our trust. She was always available with guidance and reassurance, and nothing was too much trouble. We’re so grateful to her and everyone at Ocean Sands for helping make our day so special. The thermal suites were such a treat, and the spa attendant was lovely and attentive. We were celebrating my partner’s 40th, and they’d left Prosecco and a birthday dessert plate in our room, which was a really nice touch. The woman I think was the GM made a point of asking how our stay was and came across as genuinely caring. Everyone we met was warm and friendly, and the restaurant food was excellent. We’d just spent two nights at Ocean Sands Hotel and spa, right by the beach with a view from the bedroom. Couldn’t have asked for a nicer stay, and I’ll definitely be back.

The beach just outside was ideal for walking the dogs, and the bar was very nice. Dinner took a while because it was busy, which I understand, but the food was lovely. The rest of the dog-friendly setup was disappointing. We were told we could eat with the dogs in the reception area, where people were constantly passing through, so we left them out and ate in the bar instead. Dogs weren’t allowed at breakfast either, though room service was an option. There were no dog touches in the room, not even a water bowl or small welcome, which I’d expect from a hotel advertised as dog-friendly. Some staff didn’t seem very welcoming or happy to be there, and the room could have been cleaner. There are nice things about the hotel, but the dog-friendly label felt misleading. A few changes could make it much more welcoming to people travelling with pets.

We only stayed one night, so the TV didn’t bother us much, but it really needs updating and should be twice the size. The room itself was spacious and lovely, and check-in was quick and friendly. The bar restaurant food was tasty, and staff around the hotel were nice. We’d definitely stay again.
