I was left cold when the owner refused to turn on the heating, and the bed sheet covers hadn't been washed. The bathroom water pressure was also very poor. Breakfast had a few fruits, bread, cereal, milk, cheese, and old tea bags. For the five of us staying together, I didn't think that was enough, and I worried the fruit would be gone by Tuesday. During the last week, the owner moved me to another room because the place was overbooked, so I had to share a bathroom. It wasn't in good condition and had no toilet roll at first, though one was brought after three hours. I’d suggest looking at other guest houses nearby. The owners later contacted me and threatened to complain about my review. I had first said breakfast was only apples and bananas, which was a mistake, and I corrected it promptly. They also referred to CCTV footage of me entering the kitchen in a T-shirt and suggested that this explained why I was uncomfortable with the temperature. I only went in briefly to get water or my meal prep. During a week with a severe storm and harsh weather outside, the cold indoors left me feeling I had to stay under blankets to keep warm. I think the owners are being unreasonable about this.

The owners were warm and gave us helpful ideas for things to do in Galway. Breakfast was freshly made and delicious, and although our bedroom and bathroom were very small, that didn't bother us. It's a long way from the town centre, though there’s a public bus stop nearby. Put Woodhaven into Google Maps before setting off. We ended up at a private house in Merlin Park and had trouble finding the guesthouse. The house owner said lots of people knock on their door. Woodhaven is an area with several guesthouses beside one another.

A bus stop right outside made getting into Galway city centre easy, and the location worked really well for me. The room had all the facilities I needed, with comfortable beds and clean toilets. Breakfast was tasty and had a good variety. The owners were a lovely, friendly, helpful couple. I'd love to come back.

We left two days early because the safety issues around the place worried us, especially for our daughter. The appliances were so dirty we couldn't use them, and the room's boiler had a heavy metal door that kept falling off. It nearly hit her. When we raised a complaint, the host became verbally abusive and confrontational. We were staying under my mother's name, in case the host tries the same response as with other complaints and says there's no record under mine. Don't stay here. The room's condition is shown in the pictures.
