The sea and beach are right across the road, and walking the promenade for some fresh air was the best part. The staff were great, the rooms were lovely and the food was good. Just back from a brilliant weekend here.

This was our second stay, and we still love the location as a base for exploring Galway. The sea is across the road, and a sunset walk is well worth it. Most evenings there's a saxophone player nearby, which makes the sunsets feel especially peaceful and lovely. Friends visiting from overseas with us couldn't recommend the hotel enough. We usually book two nights of B&B and one dinner. Dinner is three courses, served either in the bar or restaurant, and both are beautiful. The friendly staff and filling buffet breakfast set you up for the day. The pool is great, so bring swim gear. Sunday stays come with a reduced Sunday saver rate. You can ask about a sea view room upgrade when you arrive, and they'll accommodate it if they can. The front car park gets crowded, but there's a large underground one with plenty of space. From above it looks like a service entrance, and you reach it by driving through the ground park. O'Connor's bar, where Ed Sheeran recorded Galway girl, is only a 10/15 minute walk away. The cinema is 20 minutes away too, handy for keeping the little ones busy on rainy days.

We've stayed at the Salthill Hotel twice this year, and both visits were top notch. On our recent three-night trip during the Galway Comedy festival, my wife and I booked room only because we'd be in town each day visiting friends and our son at University of Galway. It rained quite a bit, but we still managed long walks on the prom and into town. When it was too wet, nearby bus stops took us straight into town, so we left the car in the hotel car park for the whole stay. Earlier, in July 2025, I stayed there for four nights with my family of six and my wife's parents. It was my fifth visit, but everyone's first. We hosted a lunch for a family group of 22 on one of the days. The weather was lovely, with a pleasant breeze and, luckily, no rain. The prom and beaches just across the road are a great feature. Rooms were spacious and comfortable, some of us used the leisure centre every day, and the food was very good. We had breakfast at the hotel each morning. The staff looked after us and our guests so well, with a lovely atmosphere and old school hospitality and efficiency.

Great food, a lovely atmosphere and location, and swimming facilities that worked well for the kids aged 8 and 16 as well as the adults. The staff were among the friendliest I've come across in a long time, and seemed genuinely happy to be at work. Definitely going back in autumn.

You get a chance to unwind while still being close to the city action. The hotel is just off Salthill Promenade, a coastal walk along Galway Bay. Don't forget to kick the wall after you've walked it! The city centre is about a 10 minute bus ride away, and there's a lovely commemorative garden beside the hotel. Several places to eat and drink are within a 5-15 minute walk, including O'Connor's Pub, where part of Ed Sheeran's "Galway Girl" was filmed. I'd definitely stay again.
