Cashelmara Lodge

The owners were friendly and helpful, and gave us plenty of ideas for things to do nearby. Galway is about a 10-minute drive, or a little longer by bus. The rooms were clean, and although the B&B is near a main road, it was really quiet at night. Everything was fine.

This family-run B&B is easy to find, just beyond the well-known Promenade and past Galway Golf Club. It overlooks Rusheen Bay in Salthill, and there’s free parking.

Room 1 had a lovely bay view and its own balcony access. The bed was huge, with a very comfortable mattress and pillows, and the ensuite was spacious. The furniture and fittings were high quality, and everywhere was spotless. Christina and her husband were lovely and helpful, even helping us with our sat nav. Breakfast was great, with cereals, juices, a choice of continental or full Irish, plus toast, wheaten bread, tea and coffee. Christina was busy, but still made time to chat and check that we had what we needed. We stayed for the weekend and highly recommend Cashelmara Lodge. Definitely a five-star B&B.

The bay view was amazing, and getting the bus to the Inishmore ferries was easy. It’s also a pleasant walk from the bustle of downtown Galway. The room was charming, the breakfast superb, and the hospitality truly Irish. When she heard how much I liked their preserves, she brought me a jar to take home. I’ll stay here on my next Galway visit, hopefully with family.
