If you’re hoping for peace, quiet, and a clean, modern room, this one probably isn’t for you. The room sits right over the pub, and the jukebox and late night noise made sleep difficult. The old fashioned décor and lingering beer smell follow you upstairs, too. It might suit night owls who want to be close to the pub, but I wouldn’t recommend it to light sleepers or anyone bothered by the smell or cleanliness.

The breakfast quality speaks for itself, so I won't get into it. The place was a worn out, slum like home with old, lousy furniture and no water in the toilet. At €80 per person per night, it felt like the owner was just trying to squeeze out a euro or two. I'd sooner book the Salvation Army hostel. Don't stay here.

After a long, cold day cycling, we arrived tired and I was grumpy and rude, so I’d give myself one star. The son was lovely and patient with us, though, and the whole family was helpful and funny. Our rooms had everything we needed, and we had a nice simple breakfast in the morning. Joy and Gerry even gave us a full photoshoot. A real highlight of our Wild Atlantic Way cycling holiday.

We’d happily stay here again. The rooms were clean and comfortable, and both generations of hosts were lovely. We had a nightcap at the bar, a relaxing end to the evening, then a charming breakfast where we got to hear about the family history of the business.
