The Irish breakfast was great, and I really enjoyed chatting with Hannah. She was a delightful host. It’s a beautiful, historic B&B, and our room was spacious and quiet.

Muxnaw Lodge was perfectly placed for exploring both the Ring of Beara and the Ring of Kerry. We spent three lovely nights there at the beginning of August. Our bedroom was spacious, comfortable and cosy. The welcoming host knew the area well and gave us lots of suggestions for places to visit, and made a delicious breakfast. I highly recommend it.

The price is reasonable, and the family who owns this unusual B&B serves a really nice breakfast. There’s a lot of antique furniture and the rooms have a quirky, eclectic feel. Check the photos first and think about whether that style would suit you.

Hannah was so kind and accommodating, and I’m already looking forward to coming back. Breakfast was wonderful, made with care and clearly good ingredients, including raisin bread and other tasty homemade breads. The beds were comfortable, and the hot water and pressure were great. It’s a charming, well-kept place with lovely bay views and within walking distance of Kenmare town center. It isn’t a modern building, it used to be the summer home of a family who owned a castle in Dublin.

The scenery is lovely and the lodge is beautifully maintained. My stay felt very nostalgic, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I can’t praise the owner highly enough and would definitely recommend staying here.
