We booked two nights of B&B and were greeted by very cheerful staff. The room was spacious, clean and tidy, and having a shower over the bath was a bonus when I wanted a good soak. The pub is full of history and feels warm and welcoming. There’s plenty to choose from on the menu, and the food was well presented and generous. Lots of beer, wine and spirits too. Staff were chatty and happy to help with anything. Breakfast was hearty and set us up for the day. Good value and a great base for exploring.
We had a wonderful five-night stay, and the host family were cheerful and clearly cared about their guests. The fish and chips were the best we’d had so far, even after many trips to England, Scotland and Ireland. We were in room 112 on the second floor and couldn’t hear any live music in the evening. Perfect, we’d come back anytime!
The atmosphere was great, and the young Aussie woman who served us was lovely, but the food was mixed. My chicken wings and duck spring rolls were both good. My wife’s crispy pork belly, though, was overcooked, gelatinous and inedible. There was no crispness at all, just a blob of fat over the meat. If it can’t be cooked as described, it shouldn’t be on the menu. More attention to detail is needed so people get what they ordered.
We stayed two nights, one in the apartment and one in the main accommodation building. Both were really nice. The only downside was that there wasn’t a tea-making facility in the room.
This place has the Irish experience we were looking for: a fantastic atmosphere, great music and traditional Irish food. The four of us ordered several dishes to share, and every one was outstanding.
