It’s a good choice for a quick weekend with friends, with affordable rooms right in the center and easy access to all Kilkenny has to offer. Just know what kind of stay the hotel offers so you aren’t disappointed. It isn’t a five-star resort, but it has a great location and excellent staff. Ignore the negative reviews, I highly recommend it.

I paid nearly €240 for one night in Kilkenny, including charges added by a website that seemed designed to hide them. For that price, the place was baffling and disgusting, and I can only recommend avoiding it. I’d have understood low standards if the cost had matched, but it didn’t. There was nobody at reception when I arrived to check in, just a “back soon” sign, and still nobody there at checkout the next morning. I’ll never know if the place even has a receptionist. Instead, a bunch of room keys with guests’ names on them were left on a table beside the desk. The room was grotty, with an old, uncomfortable bed and sheets that didn’t feel fresh. The bathroom was filthy, with years-old stains in the toilet, sink, and shower. After I’d been out, my key wouldn’t open the main door. I was lucky someone happened to be coming out as I went in. I don’t know what I’d have done otherwise, but sleeping on a bench might have been preferable.

The beds felt like giant clouds, and the place was easy to get to. Absolutely amazing, just what we needed for the night. Thanks, Andy!

Avoid this place. It was terribly run. Martina made promises about check-in times and rooms that weren’t true, and guests arrived with no rooms assigned and rooms that hadn’t been cleaned. Worst budget accommodation experience I’ve had.

The location was about the only good thing. The hotel layout was confusing, and even finding our room was a challenge. Our room was disgusting, with dead insects on the floor, cobwebs in the windows, and food scraps on the floors and stairs. There were only four towels for seven people. The bedroom window was smashed and boarded up with plywood from outside. Nobody was at reception to greet us. Our room cards had just been left out with our name, so anyone could have taken them and walked in. How can they charge full, high-end hotel prices for this hovel? I can’t believe the five-star reviews are genuine, they must be fake. I hope people do their research before booking, as our party didn’t. Nasty, dirty labyrinth. Avoid, avoid, avoid.
