Killarney International Hostel

The staff were friendly, though it was hard to tell who worked there. The hostel was clean enough, but I don't think the rooms were being swept. There were lots of kids around, running and screaming on the stairs, and there wasn't a towel in the bathroom. I stayed for 2 nights and it was just okay. It's too far from things to do without taking a bus. The beds were uncomfortable, had no safety rails, and the sheets didn't fit.

If you just need a cheap place to sleep for the night, the price isn't bad. It's a very basic youth hostel about 10 minutes out of town, with high ropes and a paintball area on site, so don't expect too much. I booked a private double room but got one with 2 bunk beds. One lower bunk was meant to be a double, but it was very small. Fresh sheets and pillowcases were provided, though the rest of the bedding, like duvet covers, didn't seem to get washed often.

The location is lovely, peaceful and within walking distance of a small restaurant down the road. Staff were welcoming and friendly, and the rooms were clean. The bathrooms were clean too, but had a strange smell. The sink was in the room, and remember to bring your own towel, we forgot that part of staying in a hostel.

A good hostel with a great spot right on the Ring of Kerry. The facilities are basic but decent, as you'd expect at a hostel, and the staff are very helpful. A solid recommendation for anyone travelling around Ireland on a budget.
