Randles Hotel Killarney

I slept well for two nights, with a comfortable bed and a really nice bathroom. The staff were welcoming, and I was given a room upgrade. I stayed here while on a climbing trip and climbed Carrauntoohil. It’s a very nice hotel, only a short walk from the city centre, and it seems to have a good reputation among locals. I only wish I’d booked a longer stay, especially since the weather was great the day I left.

The room faced the car park, and one morning a staff member did the glass recycling. We could hear it as if it was happening in the room. On another night, people returned to their room at 1am talking loudly, and the thin walls between the rooms and corridors woke us up. We’d seen similar reviews before booking, but brushed them off since we travel often and stay in lots of hotels each year. We’ve never had this problem before. It’s a real shame, because the hotel itself is very nice, with spacious rooms, lovely lounges, and parking beneath the building. It’s about a ten-minute walk from Killarney. We visited in February, during the off season. If this much noise is to be expected, they should provide earplugs.

The room in the townhouse was very nice, but its TV was damaged. We stayed two nights, and although housekeeping came in once, they only remade the bed and didn’t change the sheets. The townhouse is a few minutes’ walk from the hotel, which made using the bar and restaurant more awkward. It’s about a 15-minute walk to the city centre.

Our two-year-old had loads of room to run and walk around in the spectacular Junior Suite. It was spotless, the bathroom was great, and the jacuzzi even had a TV and remote. We had a lovely breakfast, and the downstairs lounge area with sofas was cosy, quiet, and beautiful. The staff were excellent. Thanks for everything.
