The Bianconi Inn

The staff at reception were very nice, and our room was clean and spacious. We had a toddler with us, so the bathtub in the bathroom came in handy. There’s free parking right in front of the hotel. Breakfast was lovely, with plenty to choose from, including pastries, yogurt, cereal, and fruit. We also ate dinner at the restaurant and enjoyed the food there. It was a lovely stay overall.

The scallops and fish and chips were fantastic. I enjoyed most of the food, though one dish wasn’t to my liking because it had dill, which I don’t like.

We came to Killorglyn for a birthday meal because our local wasn’t serving food on Mondays at this time of year. We hadn’t stayed here, so I can’t speak to the rooms, though I’ve given them five stars. The place itself looks appealing, but the welcome felt lacking. The staff seemed to know the food well, yet I didn’t see a smile and there wasn’t much personality. We had a Guinness and a pot of tea, and the bill came to €77, which felt rather steep. The burger meal was okay. I’d asked for the steak to be pink in the middle, but it came overdone, a little dry though still fairly tender. You can choose one extra; I picked the creamy mash, which wasn’t creamy at all. The steak came with vine tomatoes and mushrooms, a rather unimaginative garnish. I can’t remember the full name of the brandy sauce I chose, but there wasn’t much of it and it tasted good.

Bianconi put up many of our wedding guests for the weekend, and they were a pleasure to deal with. Our large group also ate there on a couple of evenings. We hadn’t booked ahead, but they fitted us in without any trouble. The food was delicious and the rooms immaculate. Highly recommend.
