Plantation Lodge B&B

Room 1 had a double and a single bed, was spotless, and came with plenty of storage, a Smart TV, and chargers. We also got a generous continental breakfast with Activia yogurts, croissants, fresh brown bread, cold meats and cheese, and lots of fruit. You can add a hot Irish breakfast for €10, though the included breakfast was enough for us. We stayed for a 21st birthday in Carrickmacross, about a 15-minute drive away, and the quiet country setting was lovely. It’s handy for events nearby and for weddings at Cabra Castle. The hosts were friendly, and the dogs and cats were a real plus for animal lovers. One small snag: when we got back late, the kitchen door was locked, so we couldn’t get water during the night. The decor is a little old-fashioned, but suited the country feel and didn’t bother us. It was a fair price for a peaceful night’s sleep, and the 11:30 am checkout was handy.

We paid extra for the cooked breakfast, and it was well worth it. The breakfast selection was great, and Peaches and Teddy, the two puppies, were a highlight too. Kathleen and her husband were friendly and helpful with everything during our two-night stay for a wedding at Cabra Castle. They made the visit wonderful.

Kathleen made us feel welcome during our one-night stay at Plantation Lodge. We were in town for a wedding at Cabra castle, less than a five-minute drive away. The room was just right, with a clean en suite and plenty of towels, plus Easter bunny chocolates waiting for us.

Kathleen was so friendly and welcoming, and even gave us a lift to the wedding we were going to. The room was lovely, the bed comfortable, and breakfast was tasty. A great B&B stay!
