We were in Sligo for a friend’s engagement party and had booked a standard double room as a little treat. When we got there, it had two single beds instead. The receptionist working on the night of 27th Dec was so apologetic and quickly sorted out another room, even upgrading us to a much nicer one. It was gorgeous, with lovely views, and we really didn’t want to leave. We only had a quick visit, but the hotel and its incredible staff made us want to come back and enjoy more of what it offers.

The Radisson was a handy base near Sligo town for exploring the area. We spent two nights over New Year and found the room spacious, clean, quiet and comfortable. The staff were friendly, attentive, helpful and professional throughout. Food was superb, with a buffet breakfast, room service and meals available to order during the day. Book the Brasserie for dinner. The lobby also had a huge Christmas tree, and the hotel was nicely decorated for the season.

Breakfast was the one disappointing part of an otherwise lovely stay. We arrived 15 minutes after service began, expecting fresh food, but the fried eggs were solid, the bacon hard and overcooked, and the scrambled eggs cold and dry. The rest was great: friendly staff gave us a warm welcome, and our suite upgrade came with amazing views and great facilities. For the hotel, facilities and staff, 5 stars. Breakfast gets 3.

My partner’s birthday weekend was amazing, thanks to the fabulous management who made it extra special for us. We really appreciated it. The staff were extremely professional, and the hotel itself is beautiful. Breakfast tasted great and had a good choice of continental and hot food. We’ll most certainly return when we’re visiting Sligo again in the summer.

With Benbulben in the backyard, what’s not to like? My husband and I stayed for two nights and had a wonderful experience, including two dinners and two breakfast buffets. Well done!
