St Marys

For €200 a night, the twin room felt like an absolute rip-off. The decor looked early 00's, there was no bath, and the shower leaked onto the floor. There were no plug sockets beside the bed, and the TV remote's off button didn't work. WiFi was poor too. The walls and doors are thin, so guests leaving their rooms and talking in the hallway from 7AM onwards woke me up. Breakfast had no plant-based substitutes available. I wasn't greeted warmly when I arrived and had to ask the receptionist if I could check in. At checkout, nobody asked how my stay had been.

On Tuesday, Susie met Sammy, the manager, and he was very helpful and had a laugh with her. I was so glad to hear that, especially after the hard year she's had with anxiety. I booked my daughter into a disability room for three days, and things seemed fine at first. The bed was far too high for her to get into or out of. Then on Wednesday, Darren, the manager, told Susie she had to leave the hotel and call a friend of mine to come there, or he would put her out. Susie apologised.

The room was excellent, and both dinner and breakfast were fantastic. The staff were great too. After reading the reviews, I wasn't expecting much, but my stay was lovely. 5 out 5 for me.

I booked and paid £242 for two nights for myself and my daughter, but personal matters meant I couldn't travel. They wouldn't change the dates or give any kind of refund, not even for breakfast, and they completely ignored my messages. When I tried to reschedule, they said there was no availability for a full year in advance. My advice is to book somewhere else.
