Restaurant review only. I spent three nights in Carndonagh and ate dinner at The Butterbean each evening. Every special I tried was fantastic. My favorite was the salmon over stir-fry noodles, cooked perfectly with a spot-on sauce. The pasta with tomato-cream sauce and chorizo was excellent too. The monkfish with butter-leek sauce, asparagus, and other vegetables was expertly cooked, refined, and delightful. This was the best food of my whole trip, and I can't recommend the place enough.

For €24.95, I expected some vegetables with the slab of meat, mashed potato, and sauce. The food was okay, but the plate really needed some nice colourful veg. My wife's vegetable curry looked and tasted as if the sauce came from a packet.

Restaurant visit only. I had the chicken goujons with garlic potatoes. The portions were big, the food was delicious, and since it wasn't busy, it arrived quickly.

The evening menu was delicious and of a very good standard, and breakfast was cooked to order with generous portions. The coffee was especially good. The rooms were clean and comfortable, and all the staff were friendly and welcoming. Our family had an enjoyable weekend here. There were a couple of interruptions to the water supply. They said it's an ongoing issue, and it wasn't the property's fault. Places like this are vital to rural hospitality and provide valuable jobs. The local council needs to get moving on sorting out the water problem.

The kids loved their freshly cooked fish and burger from the children's menu, and both portions were generous. My roast beef was full of flavour and came in a generous serving too. The staff were friendly and helpful. We haven't eaten out as a family in a while, but this Sunday lunch was so pleasant and affordable that we'll be back very soon.
