The Brandon House Hotel & Solas Croí Eco Spa

The breakfast at Brandon House Hotel was the best hotel breakfast I’ve ever had, with a huge choice for vegetarians and meat eaters. We also loved the cozy, relaxing spa, which had all the amenities we needed and was surprisingly affordable. The room was spacious and comfortable, and the bathroom was clean with a great shower. I only wished there’d been a small fridge in the room. My partner surprised me with a New Year’s Eve stay, and the hotel made a lovely setting for welcoming the new year. It’s lavish, with plenty of comfortable lounge areas, a restaurant, a pub, and other amenities. Thanks for helping us ring in the new year so nicely!

The breakfast was the highlight of our stay. It was excellent and couldn’t be faulted. The staff were kind and helpful throughout, and after a really good night’s sleep we left feeling the hotel had been pleasant overall. It’s a nice place, though a little dated and in need of some work. There were things that could use attention. The bedroom was clean but outdated, and the remains of a wall under the carpet kept catching our feet. Some bathroom tiles were chipped or missing, with sharp edges, and the room could use a fresh coat of paint. The pool area also needed a spruce-up, and the water was freezing. We felt a bit intimidated by some people in the jacuzzi and decided to leave. The reception was bright and welcoming, and check-in went smoothly. The restaurant was mixed: our drinks took 20 minutes, and our main course arrived while we were still eating the starter, so the staff took it back. When it came again, my steak, ordered raw, seemed to have been left under a heat lamp and was nearly well done. There may have been a communication mix-up in the kitchen. We finished the evening with drinks in some cozy seats. I’d still recommend the hotel.

We had a good family stay with our three children. The spacious family room was superb, if very warm, and the kids loved the large swimming pool. Staff were friendly and served a good breakfast. We tried both the bar and the restaurant, and preferred the restaurant for its nicer food and good service. We’d definitely recommend the hotel to families.

The spa is lovely, a good place to get away from the strain of everyday life. Each time I visit, the staff make us feel welcome and show real care for their guests. It’s always a pleasant experience.
