Kettles Country House Hotel

I had roast beef in the evening, and the half portion was just right. Breakfast was fresh too, with great toast and a proper pot of tea instead of a single cup. Table service was good to see, and the team stayed attentive even when busy. The food was very nice, and it's good value with plenty of parking. I'd definitely recommend staying and eating here.

We ended up sleeping in our car because the hotel was full and couldn't offer us a room or a reasonable fix. We had a confirmed reservation, so that was completely unacceptable. This was one of my worst hotel experiences, with poor communication, no professionalism, and no accountability. I would strongly advise people to avoid this place. My wife and I had booked one night, from April 8th to April 9th. The day after booking, I tried to request a free cancellation, but the hotel declined. Booking.com clearly said I would be charged the full amount if I cancelled, so I didn't agree to that and kept the reservation. It remained confirmed in my Booking.com app, and I also received confirmation. When we arrived around 10 PM to check in, the receptionist was extremely rude and unhelpful. After I gave our name, she said the booking was for the previous day, which wasn't right. I showed her the confirmation in the app proving it was for that night. She then abruptly said it had been cancelled, without explaining clearly why. I tried to sort it out, but she didn't seem willing to help properly. We waited about 30 minutes while she made calls to find somewhere else. Everything she found cost significantly more, and we'd have had to pay ourselves.

There was plenty of free parking, and the staff were really friendly and helpful. The rooms were lovely and clean, and the food was top class. I'll be back as soon as I can.

For a night layover at Dublin Airport, this local hotel is well worth considering. The restaurant and bar were fantastic, with great service, drinks, atmosphere, and food.
