Holiday Cottages Portsalon

Portsalon won the kids over. We spent much of the weekend swimming and jumping off the pier, and were lucky to get such good weather. The village is small and rural, with beautiful scenery and a stunning beach. There’s a sauna hut at the Pier too, which looked class after a sea swim. We ate at the Golf Club on Friday, where the staff were friendly, the service was excellent, and we enjoyed the food and drinks. On Saturday we had dinner at The Pier Restaurant, then sat out front with our wine and watched the sunset. The two houses worked really well for our group of eight adults and four kids, with loads of room. They were immaculate and felt cared for, more like home than a rental. There was everything we needed, from tea and coffee to WiFi, TVs, comfortable beds, and BBQ facilities in the back garden. They’re also an easy walk from the pier, beach, and golf club. Erin was so helpful from the time I booked, including helping me plan a special weekend for my wife’s 40th. She even brought in a card and bottle of champagne for her, which was such a lovely gesture. We’ll definitely be back. Thanks, Erin, for everything.

The house is only a few minutes’ walk from the beach, pier, bar, restaurant, and shop, which made staying in Portsalon really handy. We’ve just spent a week on the beautiful Fanad peninsula and would happily recommend this place. It was spacious for our family of five and had all the modern conveniences we needed. Geoffrey and Erin were brilliant hosts, and we’re looking forward to coming back.

This wee bungalow was especially handy with kids aged 1 to 11. Everything’s on one level, so it was easier for everyone, and there’s safe outdoor space where the children could play freely. We even had room to pitch them a tent. Inside, it felt like home, modern and gleaming, with what we needed for cooking and baking. The shop is nearly next door, and the beach, pier, and restaurant are all within walking distance. We had an amazing few days in Portsalon with the family. Thanks for being such lovely hosts, we’ll be back soon.

It was a fantastic long weekend away with family and friends, and having both cottages gave us plenty of space. They were clean, well furnished, and felt like home. The gated area also felt really safe for the kids. We were only a couple of minutes on foot from the beach, pier, bar, and restaurant. Geoffrey and Erin were fantastic hosts. Can’t wait to return.
