The gardens were a highlight, especially the ones at the back with their water features. There are live music nights in the bar most evenings, the food had a great range of choices, and the staff were helpful and really nice. We stayed on a National Holidays coach trip. The hotel had lovely decor and spacious rooms, and I’d definitely stay again.

The food was excellent, and everyone from the cleaners to the manager was friendly and helpful. We were there on a coach holiday, and I can’t fault the hotel. Our room was large and clean, with a comfortable bed. The only little problem was the poor WiFi, which was only available in the public areas. I’d recommend the place.

I’m grateful to the hotel administration, and especially Chris, for giving me and my children 1.5 years of safety, warmth, care and attention. Earl of Desmond will always be part of our lives. With gratitude, Aryna, Ivan, Miia.

We came in late May on a National Coach Trip. The restaurant staff really helped our holiday run smoothly. They were hardworking and attentive, always smiling, and ready for a chat and a laugh with guests. Even with lots of coach groups staying, meals were organised into time slots for two parties at a time, so everyone was fed promptly. The Earl of Desmond has really mastered hosting coach parties. For the price we paid, the food was excellent, with different choices each night. Our bedroom and bathroom were spacious and pleasant, and the gardens and riverside walks were beautiful, with plenty of places to sit outside.

I stayed by myself over the October Bank Holiday weekend in 2015. The quiet room on the third floor was comfortable and very clean, though I’d heard that half the rooms had already been redecorated and that floor hadn’t been updated yet. I look forward to returning and seeing it in a freshened up room. The hotel staff deserve five stars for being welcoming, warm and obliging, and the buffet breakfast was tasty, with compliments to the chefs and serving staff. Manor West shopping centre is close by, and across the road there’s a lovely garden centre selling clothes and household items that’s well worth a visit. There are interesting nature walks nearby too. It’s very reasonably priced, and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend The Earl of Desmond. Good job to all the staff.
