Hannon's Hotel

The staff were welcoming and very helpful, which made the stay a bit better, but the room was very basic and the hotel feels like a budget, no-frills place. Our room felt almost like a basement, with the only window tucked into a corner behind a wall and letting in hardly any natural light. It was unusually dark and dusty, and the sheets sometimes had a funky, off-putting smell. The rooms, and the hotel generally, feel quite dated. It was fine, nothing more.

The rooms and furniture could be better. Check-in was rushed and the receptionist was cold with me, and I saw another customer get the same treatment. The next morning, two young staff members in the breakfast area changed my prescription of the hotel. At checkout, an older lady, who I think is the owner, gave me the warmest greeting. Best of luck.

I’ve been here a few times for different things, and honestly it’s one of the worst places I’ve been. The service is always shocking, the general vibe is always bad, and the food is mediocre at best. I don’t want to be too harsh, but that’s how it is.

The bedrooms are spacious and comfortable, and the public rooms have beautiful decor. The hotel has a lovely atmosphere, and the staff were friendly and helpful. When I needed an extra blanket during the night, they brought one straight away. The food was excellent. My partner had a steak sandwich and trifle for dinner, and the full Irish breakfast was good, though I’d have preferred fresh whole fruit to fruit cocktail. Very good coffee too. We look forward to coming back. Thank you for the friendly hospitality.
