We only stopped in for coffee and a bite to eat, not an overnight stay. The staff were lovely and the food was really nice.

The meal was great, and the service had that old-fashioned warmth. It looked family-run, and they really looked after everyone eating there. Well done 👍🏼

The restaurant and bar have a nice waterside setting, and the bathrooms were clean with hot showers. Breakfast was decent too, especially the huge blood and white pudding medallions. But the room was the worst of our trip, despite being one of the most expensive. The mattress was very uncomfortable, didn't fit the frame, and tilted up a little at the foot. There were only two very flat pillows, and the TV had no sound. The employees were kind, at least. I'd keep going.

My adult daughter and her boyfriend booked a room here for the night and had a terrible experience. In the morning, when her boyfriend slid the shower door open, it came off its rails and fell on him. They didn't make a fuss at the time. After they left, the owner called my daughter and accused them of smashing it, then demanded 400 euro for a new enclosure. She went back with her boyfriend and her grandmother as a witness. When they checked the door, it wasn't smashed. It had come off its rails, was discoloured with age, and had a wheel that had broken down from rot. Even though the faulty, aged door had fallen on her boyfriend, the owner still demanded 400 euro. Her grandmother, who runs a clean, well-kept B&B with properly working facilities, stepped in and shut the demand down because she knew the facts about running public accommodation. For anyone who ends up booking here, don't expect a warm welcome, and take photos of your room before you leave. Spiddal is one of Ireland's most beautiful places, so stay somewhere else if you want to enjoy it. This owner seems to be trying to take advantage of guests while providing unsafe accommodation.

Our family, three adults and two children, went in for dinner at 6pm. My daughter had a pasta meal that was fine, but the girls, aged 10 and 7, got a bowl of mac and cheese that was a miserable portion and not very tasty. My husband and I both ordered 10oz steak for €27 each, with mash, three crispy onion rings and pepper sauce. The food arrived cold on cold plates. My husband was starving and ate his, while I sent mine back. About five minutes later it came back a little warmer, but the potatoes and onion rings were still cold. Both steaks were tough and overcooked. The waitress said I hadn't told her the food was cold, and how did she think it would be hot on a cold plate? We even had to ask for steak knives. At bill time, my husband was charged full price for my cold dinner. I'm disgusted with how we were treated and will leave bad reviews on a few places I follow. It makes sense that booking a Sunday evening table was no problem, since the place was nearly empty. I wouldn't recommend it at all.
