The rooms are big, lovely, clean and have very comfortable beds. The curtains need urgent upgrading, though. I’d booked bed and breakfast, but at check-in I was told breakfast wasn’t included. The woman checking in ahead of me got all the details about where and when breakfast was served. I was just handed my room key. The woman who checked me in didn’t seem very welcoming either.

I was there for two nights with my wife and three kids. The pool was great, and we ate at the hotel both days. Dinner in the bar on the first night and the food was pretty good. The rooms were fine, though a little dated. Special thanks to Kate and Aisling for their great service and help during our stay.

The staff are what made our stay so good. Mary on reception, Kay in dining, Nelly in the bar, and Como and Joey in the leisure area all looked after us. We also met Adriana, the cleaner, who was great. We loved the jacuzzi and pool, and had a great stay at the hotel. Brendan and Norah.

We made good use of the pool and spa, and breakfast was a highlight, especially the gluten free area. Our large room was quiet despite some refurbishment going on, and the bed was the cosiest I’ve ever slept in at a hotel. The hotel food was good too. It’s on the outskirts of the beautiful Irish town of Westport, with great shops, pubs and restaurants. The staff were very friendly and a pleasure to deal with. We’ll definitely be back.

The breakfast was good, but the rest of the stay didn’t feel like a four-star hotel. The place looks dated and needs investment. Even the key, in a huge plastic casing with a rusty, mangled ring, made a poor first impression. Dinner options were terrible, with nothing for dietary requirements, and staff didn’t seem trained to answer questions. Service was patchy, and the seating area was badly arranged. I’d look elsewhere if you want a four-star stay.
