Acco Beach Hotel

I had a nice two-night stay at Akko Beach hotel, and the staff were friendly and helpful. What really bothered me was cigarette smoke coming from the room next door. Smoking should be forbidden since other guests have to breathe it in too.

The only good things were the location near the beach and the nice pool, though there weren't enough chairs or loungers. The hotel needs repairs. The air conditioning made so much noise we couldn't sleep, rubbish bins were near the rooms and made the whole area smell, and the beds were old and uncomfortable. The balcony was tiny and dirty.

The pool or sea view rooms are the cheaper ones, but they're quite cramped. Inside, I noticed stale smells of smoke and dust, dirty taps, and poor cleaning. There were even big clumps of hair left by previous guests. The kettle on the coffee tray was filthy, and the cheaper rooms had no cups. The shower is a standing one. The hotel itself is an old, dated structure split across several buildings, and some features are so badly maintained they can be dangerous, like the missing railing on a roof balcony. The food was good, though, and the pool opens in season. The beach is right there, with no walk at all.

The food was inedible. Our room also wasn't clean or comfortable, with rusty windows and sheets that didn't fit the bed. At check-in, the receptionist seemed confused and charged the wrong amount to the card. When staff handed us the keys, they didn't help with our suitcases or show us where the room was.
