The breakfast was good, and there were several improvements to the restaurant during my stay, including espresso machines and table cleaning. The tables had been a real problem: they’d put out napkins and utensils, but crumbs and old food were still there, with bits sticking to the napkins. I’ve spent 200 to 250 nights a year in hotels for business over the last 17 years, and having the front desk say my room number out loud was a huge no-no. The kitchenette had no plates, utensils, or cleaning supplies, and the bed had just one sheet over the mattress. Still, in this immediate area, I don’t think you’ll find a better hotel. I’d call it a 2.5-star place in a one-star hotel area.

The beds were really comfortable, and the whole place was very, very clean. Breakfast had a good variety, and there’s a nice shop right next door for anything you might need. The staff were super friendly, and they even brought free bottled water with room service. We loved staying here, and it’s close to the city center.

For what it costs, this is just an average hotel. Service is often difficult, and the restaurant isn’t always open. The room’s air conditioning only works in summer, so be ready to sleep with the balcony doors open if you don’t want to sweat all night.

They say it’s the best hotel around in Ashdod, but breakfast was modest and there was nothing extraordinary about the place. The room was spacious, though it didn’t look new. The bath was leaking, and this was the first hotel I’ve stayed at that charged for the coffee provided in the room.
