The location is great and the prices are fair, but this place doesn't give me a wow feeling, and to me its best days seem to be behind it. It looks neglected. The shop owner smokes inside the shop, and I've found the sauna closed many times when it should have been open. Two cats seem to have taken over the hallway and sofas. It feels like a place for divorced people and retirees.

My mother and I have stayed at the Colony Beach Hotel on our Israel trips in April 2008, 2010, and 2012. It's right on the Mediterranean shore, at the start of Bat yam, about 3.5 miles south of the Old City of Jaffa in Tel Aviv. There's a synagogue on the first floor for religious guests, and restaurants, supermarkets, and shops are all within walking distance. The hotel has free parking, a security desk at reception, and a small food market. They also have fresh bread and rolls each morning. The view is lovely, the pool and spa are clean, and the beach entrance is always empty. Our one-bedroom, one-bathroom apartment has a small kitchenette, a living room with a folding couch, a balcony, air conditioning, and a TV. We pay between $100 and $135 a night, depending on the season and apartment. It's a great base for exploring Israel on your own.

The restaurant area is nicely laid out, and the beach views are lovely. Some parts are still being built, but it looks like they're working to improve the infrastructure and the beachfront. I'd highly recommend visiting this beautiful beach.

The main plus is being right by the beach, with what seems to be direct access from the lobby. The place feels very poorly maintained, the people weren't that great, and it was a bit pricey.

Finding your way around inside is like navigating a maze, and the elevators can get stuck. At least parking is free :)
