The Vomitorium Inn was a nightmare from the start. The building smelled of mildew, grease, and something like a dead animal soaked in sweat. At reception, the clerk was picking her teeth with a room key. I was put in Room 106, which I started thinking of as The Devilโs Colon. The room felt damp and rotten, as if it had been shut for ages. The mattress sagged badly, and there were crusty marks on the sheets, one of which crumbled when I touched it. The walls had stains that might have been old soda or dried blood, I didn't check. The AC smelled like fermented feet, and I had to hit it repeatedly with a shoe to get it working. The bathroom was awful too. The toilet had a baked-on brown rim, the sink ran weak, tea-colored water, and there was visible fungus on the shower curtain. When I lifted the shower mat, silverfish scattered everywhere. I screamed and cried. Then I found a used Band-Aid under the pillow. It crinkled when I touched it, and I nearly passed out. Breakfast was a stale muffin with a thumbprint, expired yogurt, orange juice that tasted like battery acid and old socks, and coffee like black tar. This felt like an immune system challenge. Avoid the place at all costs. If it were the last shelter in a zombie apocalypse, I'd take my chances outside.

The setting and atmosphere in Haifa make for a one-of-a-kind combination!

The rooftop's a nice spot to relax and hang out in the evening, and the kitchen has everything you need. Staff and volunteers are welcoming and friendly. It's also a good base for day trips to Nazareth and Acre. Great hostel in a fantastic location, definitely recommend staying here if you're heading this way. And there are free pancakes in the morning ๐ฅ

We spent three days at Haifa Hostel and felt at home almost right away. The owner and staff were polite, helpful, and clearly took good care of the place and the people staying there. Mornings start with homemade vegan pancakes and lovely conversations, and the volunteers seemed to be enjoying themselves too. Haifa is well worth visiting and felt like a nice alternative to Tel Aviv, with nice people everywhere. Thank you!

I came to Haifa for the first time, picked Haifa Hostel after reading so many warm reviews about the staff, and ended up extending my stay. As a solo traveler, feeling safe and being around kind people matters a lot. Some other hostels have felt cold and disconnected, but here the staff and volunteers were so welcoming they honestly felt like family. I'm pretty introverted, yet I spent hours talking with them each day and was excited to see them, like people I'd known for years. They invited me to events, helped plan my trip, and gave me tips for driving on the other side of the road. They were the most memorable part of my stay. The private rooms are amazing, with comfortable beds and a lot more space for the price than other hostels. Breakfast is provided daily, though I slept in and didn't try it; it looked great. The hostel is close to the Bahaโi gardens and HaShmona train station, and the balcony is a lovely place to watch the sunset and meet other travelers. I can't fault the experience and will happily book here again when I return to Haifa. Thanks so much, guys!
