Herbert Samuel Jerusalem

Some of the rooms and furnishings are starting to look worn, and refreshing those areas would help keep the hotel at its usual high standard. It didn’t spoil our stay, though. The management took care of every request promptly and thoughtfully, and the common areas are elegant with a welcoming feel. Herbert Samuel Hotel is beautifully designed and very well located in the heart of Jerusalem, within walking distance of famous sights, lively markets, and great restaurants. It’s a well-run place with good service, and I’d consider it a solid choice. A little updating would make it even better.

The small pool, gym, spa, and lobby bar were nice to have, and the staff were considerate. It’s a clean, pleasant hotel in a handy spot for visitors to Jerusalem. You can walk to Zion Square, the Old City, Jaffa Road, and several newer museums. Yoel Moshe Solomon Street is right outside, a quaint area with the Music Center and several very nice upscale restaurants.

The mattresses and pillows are old, and the rooms need better maintenance. Housekeeping could improve too. This doesn’t feel like a five-star hotel.

The location is outstanding, and I’d stay here again. It’s a solid hotel, just not as impressive as the brand suggests, so don’t overpay. The rooms are clean and the beds are okay for this level, though there’s a little mold around the shower. The hotel is fairly new, but the hall carpet looks about 100 years old, maybe by design. Rooms are small, which is par for the course in Jerusalem. Parking is offsite, and the discount is tiny. Breakfast is decent, but decaf is only available as instant coffee. There’s a Nespresso machine in the room, oddly paired with off brand capsules. The pool is tiny, and there’s a decent sauna and steam room, but no hot tub. Maybe the pool could become one, it’s about the right size.
