New Metropole Hotel

The lobby hot chocolate is amazing, and I felt the hotel’s security was top notch. I’m Christian, and after years of hoping to visit Israel, I stayed at the New Metropole Hotel last week. I’d worried about safety and being Christian, but those anxieties disappeared as soon as I arrived in Jerusalem. The staff treated me wonderfully, and my room was clean. The area felt safe for walking around at night, and it was convenient for everything. I couldn’t have chosen a better hotel or location. To other Christians considering a visit, I’d say set aside your preconceived ideas before you come. I had no problems at the hotel or in the area. It’s a very different culture, so don’t expect it to feel like a vacation in a major American city. What you’ll find is a historic city and a real chance to see where Jesus walked. I’d definitely choose this hotel again and wouldn’t hesitate to return. I came for a vacation and left with an experience and a deeper understanding of the life Jesus Christ lived. A good value for budget travelers, with helpful, easygoing managers. It’s in the Muslim Quarter, right beside Herod’s Gate and about a five-minute walk from the tram station. The area felt safe and quiet. The bathrooms have been renovated recently, although they still lack a mirror. There’s plenty of hot water and the pressure is excellent. I’d book without hesitation.

The Old City is close, and Damascus Gate is nearby. Around New Metropole, we found cafés, hummus places, bakeries and shops open every day, plus a store open late. It felt safe and was reasonably priced for a longer stay. We spent nine nights there in December 2025. We arrived late Friday and a staff member welcomed us. Our suite had a double bed, wardrobe, fridge, TV and a bathroom with hot water and a great shower. Towels were changed when we asked, and we were treated wonderfully throughout our stay.

The staff were incredibly kind, and the rooms were spotless with everything we needed. It's also in a really convenient spot for seeing Jerusalem. You should definitely stay here!
