We stayed from February from 25th to March 4th, and our lovely host accommodated us during the war. This isn’t a conventional hotel, but it offers a different experience, right outside Herod's Gate on the high street of East Jerusalem. I recommend staying here.

I was disappointed with Rivoli Hotel. It’s old and poorly maintained, and my room was dirty, with hair on the bedding. There wasn’t any information about the Wi-Fi password either. I definitely wouldn’t recommend it.

The location is hard to beat, with Herod's gate in view, and the staff were very friendly and helpful. For $90 usd/night, this was great value. The rooms are simple, economical, and clean. Breakfast included pita, eggs, salad, hummus, and cereal, and coffee and tea were available around the clock.

The location is superb, and my room was warm with a comfortable bed. It faced a graveyard, so the neighbours were quiet. The bathroom was clean and the water hot, and the staff were friendly and went out of their way to help. Breakfast was OK. It’s low budget, so I can live with the shoddy carpet. What I couldn’t overlook was the dodgy lock on the door.
