Shlomtzi Hotel

There’s no reception, bar, or restaurant, and the self check-in and checkout were easy, with clear instructions. The shower had plenty of hot water, and the terrace would be a lovely spot for a glass of wine in the right season. The location is ideal, and the comfortable room exceeded my expectations. It’s a walk-up, so it won’t suit travelers with disabilities.

The location is close to the Western Wall and the Church of Holy Sepulchre, but we were exhausted throughout the trip from lack of sleep. Music from nearby bars and restaurants went on until 2 a.m., followed by drunk people shouting, singing, and fighting. The small, outdated rooms were hot even with the air conditioner on, and the hot water was unreliable. I’m surprised by the ratings, it didn’t feel like a 4.8 hotel. Expedia said breakfast was included and described a nearby free breakfast that needed reservations. When I asked, I was told there was no breakfast and that we could find something at a café. Breakfast and the reviews were part of why I booked.

The hotel is right downtown, about five minutes from Mamila and three minutes from cicar tzion, and the location was fabulous. We loved the room too, which had everything we needed, plus a small complimentary bottle of wine. There are no staff members on site, but contacting them through WhatsApp was fine. No elevator, so bear that in mind. The water pressure was great, my wife had no complaints, haha. There’s also a terrace right outside the room with a great view over the city center, perfect for relaxing. We’ll definitely return.

The online system handles everything with automatic codes, including entry and check-in and checkout, since there’s no reception. The place is comfortable and well located, with a balcony looking over part of shlomzion street. There’s no elevator, and the toilet had a damp, stale smell that could bother you. For a shorter stay in central Jerusalem, it can still be a good choice.
