Our room was quiet and comfortable, with two windows, and it was clean. But several things were disappointing: the reservation said there would be a TV, and there wasn’t one; the bathroom tap was broken; and there wasn’t even a chair. Breakfast was the biggest letdown. We were told it began at 8:30, but when we arrived at 8:40, the four people already eating had finished the ham and cheese. Nobody from the hotel refilled the trays, so all that was left for us was tomatoes and bread. The only drink was a yellowish liquid that tasted like artificial chewing gum, and the coffee was instant powder with hot water. We ended up paying for breakfast again at a place next door.

We showed up at Abu Ihad's door at 1 a.m., desperate for help, and he kindly gave us a room at a cheap price. It was fantastic. In the morning, he insisted on making us coffee at home and telling us his life story. He was born in the guesthouse, and the courtyard where we sat for tea is where he was baptized. A lifesaver and a wonderful host, and a great guesthouse!

It was a comfortable room, and we enjoyed a great breakfast with lots of vegan options. The atmosphere was pleasant and quiet, and the hospitality was great. The market is only about two minutes away.

I found the place just okay, and not as good as it’s made out to be. The listing mentioned a bar, but there wasn’t one. It also claimed there was a terrace overlooking a garden, but I couldn’t see a terrace by any definition I know, or a garden below it. Breakfast got pretty repetitive during my four nights, and the coffee was instant. The welcome wasn’t as friendly as some reviews suggested. I wouldn’t recommend it.

Give yourself extra time to reach the guesthouse. Nazareth is a very old city, and the narrow streets can be confusing to navigate. The family who own and run the place were friendly and helpful. Just know that they accept cash only. Also, get up early enough to enjoy breakfast, it’s rich and delicious.
