Herbert Samuel By The Beach

The location is amazing, right in the heart of everything, and the price felt fair for what we got. Our room was clean and comfortable, and the front desk staff were the best, welcoming, helpful and genuinely kind throughout our stay at The Herbert Hotel. There’s no elevator, but someone at the hotel helped carry our bags upstairs, so it wasn’t a problem. I’d definitely stay here again.

The hotel was dirty and poorly maintained. The hallways smelled bad, cleanliness clearly didn’t seem to be a priority, and the place looked nothing like the pictures online. Despite my confirmed reservation, the receptionist said there was no room and told me to “go sort myself out elsewhere.” A few minutes later, other Israeli guests arrived and a room was suddenly found for them. I couldn’t help feeling I was being discriminated against because I’m French. The receptionist was shockingly rude, laughed in my face and said I wasn’t welcome. It was humiliating. I travel often and have never encountered such disrespect or unprofessional service. This is nothing but a scam. Avoid it if you value your money and dignity.

My flight to Tel Aviv was cancelled because of the recent situation, so I couldn’t travel. I contacted both the hotel and Booking right away to cancel and was promised a refund, but then charged the full amount. It’s been more than a month and a half. I’ve emailed and called repeatedly, and even begged, with no response. Booking also tried contacting the hotel multiple times and was ignored. They took my money and disappeared. If anything goes wrong, they’ll leave you with the bill. Absolutely unacceptable and shameful. Avoid at all costs.

We really liked everything during our stay with my husband. The rooms were comfortable, the location was convenient, and the staff were polite and responsible. A wonderful hotel, 10/10, I recommend it to everyone!
