Shirat Hayam - Boutique Hotel

The hospitality has been so good here. I'm leaving tomorrow, but wanted to take a moment to say it's a great place to stay. If I come back to Tiberias, I'll definitely stay here again.

The location is hard to beat, probably the best in tiberias. It's right on the water and boardwalk, next to all the restaurants, and just 2 min from the parking. Michael, the manager, was very helpful, and the customer service was great. They also have the best coffee in Israel at the front desk.

The rooftop view is gorgeous, and breakfast is huge. We stayed three nights and found the staff wonderful. The rooms are small, as some reviews mention, but in a 100 year old building you have to remember people didn't live in huge houses back then. For the price, the location and hospitality can't be beat. We'd absolutely stay again.

The view was the only saving grace. This is advertised as a “boutique” hotel, but the rooms are very poorly maintained. There was mould in the bathroom, including when we ran the Jacuzzi. The breakfast seemed to come packaged from a coffee shop: the bread and morning pastries weren't fresh, and the coffee was an awful tasting, very cheap brand. There's no close parking, and the wheelchair ramp's incline is practically impossible for a handicapped person to use. Flies were constantly around, and the attitude seemed to be, “just deal with it.” I paid 24nis/day for parking, but the receptionist wouldn't give me a receipt until I insisted and asked the manager. We asked for an immediate refund when we arrived. We had paid cash, but were told they couldn't refund anything, so we were basically forced to stay or forfeit all we'd paid. Oshra was the only kind person who helped us. Everyone else was apathetic at best, nasty and unhelpful at worst, probably because I asked for a refund. Be warned, there are much better hotels at this price range. Expedia/Booking is your friend.
