SHEELA

The setting was pretty, and the staff were lovely. It's especially handy for a Taj Mahal visit since the east gate is a short walk away. My only complaint was being given just one small towel. I'm sure they would have brought another if I'd asked, but hotels should better understand what women need: one towel for the body and another for the hair. Most hotels seem to have the same issue.

Getting from the police checkpoint to the hotel takes only a minute or two on foot, and someone from the hotel will walk with you. That's because the property is inside the Taj security zone, where vehicles can't go beyond the checkpoint. The Taj Mahal is just around the corner, and the property is beautiful, with friendly staff and spacious, clean rooms at budget prices. I spent two nights at Hotel Sheela and had a wonderful time. I'll definitely stay there again.

For a budget stay close to the Taj Mahal's East Gate, Hotel Sheela is very convenient, and it even has a small restaurant. It sits among places like The Oberoi and The Taj Hotel. From Dussehra ghat, which has marvelous sunset views of the Taj, it's about a five-minute walk. This location works especially well if you're hoping to get into the Taj at 6:30am.

I booked on Booking.com, and the location was excellent, just 100 m from the Taj Mahal's East entrance. The staff were friendly and polite, and very helpful. Special thanks to the owner, Ankit Bansal Ji, and to Pratham.
