Hotel Ujala Palace

The owner behaved really badly. We chose the hotel from the photos, but when we got there the rooms smelled awful and weren’t clean.

The hotel’s dining area feels wonderfully calm, even though the lane outside, on the way to the Dargah of Khawaja Gareeb Nawaz (the harbinger of the poor) Mohiuddin Chisti, is packed with pilgrims. It’s close to the main lane leading to the shrine. Of the hotels in Ajmer, this seemed the cleanest to me, and the all-white furniture gives it an elegant feel. They serve menus for hours, and everything was marvellous.

We’d travelled eight hours from bangalore to ajmer with an infant and elderly parents, after paying around 5.5k for three rooms through make my trip. When we arrived, the owner refused to give us rooms and kept us waiting in the sun for two hours. He didn’t even show the kindness to give us one room for the child. I hated his attitude, like he was a big boss. Eventually mmt found us another room after two hours, and mmt was very slow too. I didn’t like the experience at all. Maybe book two or three hotels by phone and pay only a small advance instead of the full amount. Once they’ve got your money, their attitude changes a lot. I think they write their own good reviews. God only should help us.

There were a few hygiene issues, but the hotel was good for the price. Its biggest plus is being only 200 meters from Darga shariff, if that’s where you’re going.
