Hotel Raiban

For budget accommodation in allepey, this is a decent option, and the staff are helpful with good service. There are vegetarian and non-vegetarian restaurants nearby. The rooms are much more spacious than necessary, though the beds could be better and the sheets and blankets are small. There's a small TV with DTH. The AC remote didn't work, so I had to contact reception to get it fixed.

At 1:30 in the morning, they refused to give us a room even though we'd booked and had confirmation through OYO. The security guard wouldn't even let us speak with the receptionist. I'm a regular traveler and have never had an experience this bad.

We were there from midnight until 9:30 a.m. and were given a non-AC room. Room 214 was dirty, with dust all over the TV and shelf, and the bathroom drain was blocked. The place felt unhygienic. At checkout, the person at reception had a terrible attitude and behaved badly. We paid good money for the room, but they only wanted cash, and after taking it, nobody was willing to help.

The location is handy for getting around, finding food, and picking up supplies. Inside, though, the rooms feel cramped and unlike what you'd expect in a typical hotel. The lobby is furnished in a way that gives a misleading impression.
