The Hosteller Kasar

The wood-built rooms made for a different kind of stay, and the place is quite close to Kasar Devi temple. There was a little disturbance from monkeys, but it was okay. Nikhil was helpful, always smiling, and a good person; the rest of the staff were good too. I stayed three days and had a wonderful time. It’s a nice place if you want to meet new people. Thanks as well to my friend Nijo (HOR, Hosteller), who helped me with the booking.

Pinky, the lovely Himalayan dog, brought such fun and loving energy to the property. I took her for a few walks during my short stay, and she only relieved herself then. It made me a little sad to see her tied up most of the time. Please consider letting her roam a bit more freely or making sure she gets daily walks. Deb promised me this would happen, but I still wanted to mention it. She’s clearly loved by everyone in the neighborhood and has lots of friends. She brings you plenty of luck, so let her enjoy life a little. Deb at the front desk was polite and helpful, and the food was delicious. The well-located property made for a comfortable, peaceful, and lovely stay, made even more special by adorable, crazy Pinky.

The staff were excellent, definitely 10/10, and the property is close to Kasar Devi temple, around 700 meters away. My stay was decent, though there are several things that could be improved. The basement dorm gets quite cold, and a heater would help. I had the top bunk, which had no handle or support for getting up and down. The bed shook even with slight movement; it was uncomfortable at first, though I got used to it. Wi-Fi was very poor, and mobile reception was weak in the basement too. The toilets were clean most of the time, but the bathroom could be bigger. The dorm has no ventilation except through the main door, and the smell from a guest’s beer was unpleasant, despite the property saying alcohol isn’t allowed. If couples are placed in a dorm, reception should clearly tell them to stay in their assigned beds. Kissing or intimacy in a shared dorm shouldn’t be allowed; they can choose a private room. Don’t rely only on the online photos, since the actual place doesn’t completely match the website.
