Hotel Darshan

There’s no restaurant, though they can arrange food service, and you’ll need to carry your own luggage since hospitality isn’t provided. The staff are good, and the rooms are nice, clean, renovated, and well maintained. Darshan Hotel is near Market Yard and the main road to ST Depot Amreli. Car parking is limited, but you can stay here.

We’d told the hotel in advance that one more family member was coming and asked for an extra bed, but they gave us only a tiny child-sized mattress. The place was almost empty, yet when we asked for a proper bed or another mattress so everyone could sleep comfortably, staff argued with us. After taking payment, the manager seemed more concerned with money than our problem. An elderly staff member who handled luggage was also extremely rude and disrespectful. The service and management were very poor, and I wouldn’t recommend staying there.

We had booked the hotel the day before for fieldwork in Amreli, and the damp, musty bedding was visibly affected by fungal growth. The rooms were very cramped, and one colleague developed severe itching and swelling after sleeping there. There was no hot water either. When we raised these problems, the manager responded rudely and dismissively, refused to acknowledge them, and took no corrective action. The hygiene and service were appalling. I’d advise avoiding this place.

The room itself was nice, but the atmosphere felt cold throughout my stay. Staff were arrogant and unwelcoming, barely cooperative, and didn’t seem interested in helping or even having a basic conversation. I didn’t get a single smile or warm gesture. They also charged me for a water bottle without telling me beforehand. I wouldn’t recommend it for a pleasant or comfortable stay.
