Hotel Apple Tree Amritsar

The food was the highlight for us: dinner included chicken curry, paneer subzi, aloo subzi with roti, dal makhani and jeera rice, and breakfast was aloo paratha with curd and veg sandwiches. Staff were helpful and cooperative, including with our luggage, and there is a lift. Our room had complimentary tea and coffee bags with a kettle, and the Blue Star AC worked well. The restaurant is on the fifth floor. We stayed one night, and the room felt a little small for three people, though manageable for that short stay. There were roaches in the bathroom, perhaps because the room had no windows or direct sunlight. Hotel Apple Tree is on Golden Avenue, around 2 km from the Golden Temple in Amritsar. We paid ₹6000 through our tour operator Journey of Himalaya, which felt a bit steep for the space. Still, we had a good stay, and it could suit a short visit if you want to be near the temple. The bathroom had no built-in heater, only a wire heater for a bucket.

The front desk made a good first impression, welcoming me politely and making sure I was escorted to my room with my belongings looked after. I spent three days at Apple Tree Hotel on Golden Avenue Road during a recent visit to Amritsar. The hotel is spacious, elegant-looking and well maintained. Meals were delicious, healthy and nicely prepared, and the rest of the staff were friendly, courteous and smiling. They were patient and attentive, and seemed dedicated to making guests comfortable. I was very happy with my stay and glad I chose this hotel. It made the Amritsar visit more memorable.

The parking area was filthy, covered with plastic rubbish and had a bad smell. For a hotel presenting itself as professional, that's unacceptable. In the evening, around 9:00 PM, another driver and I went to reception for dinner while I was visiting Apple Tree Hotel, Amritsar with guests. We were asked politely to return at 9:15. When we did, the same receptionist said that because our guests hadn't eaten there, we drivers wouldn't be given dinner. It was insulting and disrespectful. Drivers are people too, and deserve basic respect. Saying it to both of us showed a poor attitude toward drivers. They did at least let us use the washroom. With that attitude, I half expected to hear that we couldn't use it unless our guests had. My advice to guests: if you respect your driver, don't bring them here. Drivers, avoid this place. A hotel succeeds by how it treats everyone, not just paying guests. Very disappointing.
