The price was great and the location fine, and the room was clean enough, though the quality was low. Nothing to complain about, but it wasn't great either. Staff were sometimes helpful and sometimes not. My room was 101, right beside the staff counter, and from 10 p.m. to 6 in the morning they talked loudly about buses, breakfast, miscellaneous services, more buses, and all sorts of music. They seemed drawn to just keep chatting there with impressive volume and energy. I found it baffling. I can see how that room location might have made my experience worse, and I imagine the upper rooms would be more comfortable. The high reviews are hard for me to understand, but choosing a room carefully would probably help.

The owner was very sweet and spoke warmly with us, giving us tips on places to explore in Amritsar. Staff, especially Nitin and the others, were also helpful and took care of our baggage transfer. At Sukhamanee Homestay, we had a very comfortable stay, and they were flexible about check-in. We arrived around 11 PM without any trouble.

Sukhmanee home stay is a great choice for families. The family room was neat and clean, the staff were good, and the price was good too. It's near the golden Temple.
