OYO 1610 Hotel Star Metro Inn

At 2 am, when most places were closed, the staff arranged food for my sick mother. They also helped her get to the railway station safely, even though that wasn’t their responsibility. The manager and staff were kind and helpful throughout. The hotel was neat and clean, and service was quick. An amazing experience.

I checked in late at night on 14 August. The hotel was clean and had all the amenities, and it seemed quite good. I’d suggest providing visitors with flip-flops. When I asked for tea late at night, the staff apologized and said the cook had fallen asleep. In the morning, they said the cook was on holiday when I asked about breakfast. I also asked for an airport taxi to Amritsar airport, and they quoted INR 800. I checked Uber, and it was only INR 400.

The biggest hassle was getting around inside: the lobby, stairs, and corridors were so narrow that only one person could pass at a time. The lift also had problems, and during our stay we had to carry our luggage down five floors after it got stuck with most of the staff inside. There’s no dining area or restaurant, so you have to eat in your room, which can be uncomfortable. The hotel is in a prime spot, close to Amritsar bus stop, the railway station, and Golden temple. Our room was decent, with a working AC, TV, and geyser, and the staff were cooperative most of the time.

The reception guy helped us arrange bus tickets and pointed us to places to eat. Service and hospitality were excellent, and for the price we paid, we had a great experience. We booked through OYO while visiting Amritsar. It’s close to the tourist spots, about a two-minute walk from the Bus Stand and 10-15 minutes from Golden Temple. I’d recommend it for a visit to Golden Temple and nearby places.
