Breakfast often didn’t arrive until after 11 am, and the whole stay was a terrible experience. We booked two rooms through the OYO app one day ahead for five people, two women and three men, from Thursday, July 25th, to Sunday morning, July 28th. We were two hours early, so they charged us 500 extra for early check-in and asked for all three days’ payment upfront. We paid, then found the rooms hadn’t been cleaned: there were empty water bottles, a full bin, and used soap and shampoo sachets in the bathroom. When we asked for cleaning, they said there was no maid. The geyser wasn’t working either. They told us to use the bathroom in our friends’ room, then opened another room so we could get hot water. We were in a hurry to leave and had no other choice. I insisted they fix the geyser and empty the bin, but they said we were too many people and had paid too little, so they couldn’t provide everything. They wouldn’t give us water, soap, or towels; after we asked repeatedly, they gave us just one towel. On the first day, they gave us a menu and asked us to pay for breakfast. We ordered from it, but they bought the food from outside for less and charged us almost three times as much. The owner didn’t seem to care and kept trying to charge extra wherever possible. He also took one of our friends’ phones to ask how we had booked, then cancelled the booking and pocketed that money. Our friend found out from a cancellation message in the OYO app. Samar Residency shouldn’t be listed on OYO. Please don’t stay there, there’s a good chance you’ll be cheated.
