We stayed for one night, checking in on 14 th February and leaving on 15th February, 2026. We were all senior citizens, including two British friends, and arrived by road from Manali after an 11-hour journey, quite exhausted. They gave us two triple-bed rooms on the first floor, then told us the lift was out of order. Some of us have knee problems, so climbing the stairs was difficult. The rooms were large but poorly maintained. The corridor was dusty, and even the flower vase in the corner was dirty. The toilets were in very poor condition, with an unclean basin, mirror, floor and commode. The shampoo dispenser was too dirty to use. There was enough hot and cold water, fortunately, but the food came to our room on dirty plastic plates. After dinner, our foreign guests had stomach problems from around midnight, and we had a sleepless night. I don't recommend staying there when visiting Amritsar.

We were at Hotel Shivaay in Amritsar from December 29 to 31. The rooms were roomy and reasonably priced, and we could walk to both the Golden Temple and Jallianwala Bagh. Getting there by car was less convenient, since the approach lanes are narrow and traffic can build up. The room also could've been cleaner and better maintained.
