The Hosteller Amritsar, Near Golden Temple

The dorm stay felt like home. Clean rooms, comfy beds, and relaxed people around. I met some amazing souls and made lovely memories. A budget stay with premium vibes! 🫶

The chef at the unbox Kitchen deserves a shoutout. The affordable parathas felt homemade and made the stay a bit nicer. Reception staff were welcoming and seemed approachable at check-in, and the hostel’s common areas have cozy decor. The linens and bathroom were also in quite good condition for a shared dorm. But basic room hygiene was a problem: I saw bugs, dirt under the beds, and 2-3 roaches running around. The four-bed dorm itself wasn’t too congested, but that first night was uncomfortable, so I moved to a private suite for the next night. It cost 3-4x more, but the deluxe room was worth it for its size, cleanliness, and amenities. I can recommend the place if they improve dorm cleanliness. The checkout policy was rigid and unhelpful. They don’t allow check-in before 2 pm and require checkout by 11 am. After a two-day stay, even in the more expensive room, I asked for just one extra hour until noon for a genuine reason, but they refused. Noon is the standard checkout time at every other hotel where check-in is after 1.

Mr. Pawan at the front desk made check-in easy and greeted me with patience and warmth, which I really appreciated after a long trip. Mr. Almas, the General Manager, is kind and approachable, and under his leadership the hostel has a welcoming feel and clear high standards. The whole team made my stay at The Hosteller Amritsar stress-free. Thanks to both of them.

We were three boys in a four-bed dorm. The room was cozy and generally comfortable, though one bed had a minor issue. The washroom had a small flushing problem, but it was cleaned twice a day and stayed hygienic. There were no latches on the room doors, so privacy may be a concern, though that’s common in hostels. Even in peak December winter, the room felt warm enough that we turned on the fan, but the thermostat didn’t seem to work properly. The rooftop common area was a big plus, with games including foosball, Jenga, Ludo, chess, UNO, and cards. It was a good spot to socialize and meet other travellers. The location was very convenient: our bus from Delhi stopped right outside the hostel gate, and the bus terminal was within walking distance. Staff were welcoming and polite, firm about check-in times, and helpful with local destinations, itineraries, and nearby spots. Despite a few small issues, I liked my first hostel stay and would consider booking hostels again.
