Anjoned Hostel

This is specifically about the Vagator property, not the others, though I have little hope things will improve. The location is the only good thing. The room had just one working bulb, there was no drinking water, and the bathroom was disgusting and smelled strange. Parking is more than half a kilometer away, so expect a 12-minute walk to the hotel and another one back to the car. The room has no locks. They give you a small Chinese brass lock to secure your luggage. The bed was extremely uncomfortable, and breakfast comes packed like a lunchbox. A buffet is only offered if every room is booked, even though they charge for it in advance. With at least 20 people to feed, it’s a gamble whether you’ll get packed food or a proper breakfast spread. The positive reviews for Vagator seem paid or fake to me, since nobody mentions the awful rooms and bathrooms. Maybe they have very low standards for a hotel room. I made the mistake of trusting those reviews. I wouldn’t stay here even for free nights, which they do offer through scratch cards and coupons for other properties under the same management. I was highly disappointed. If you have to, sleep in your rental car. It would probably be more comfortable.

The staff are great, and there’s so much to choose from on the food menu. I spent two nights eating and sleeping here, and had no complaints. The rooms are really clean, which mattered to me because I’m usually very sensitive about bed cleanliness. I was impressed as soon as I arrived: it’s well organized and they pay attention to details. Everything you need is in one spot. This is your place.

For backpackers looking for an affordable stay, this is a really good option. Ashraf’s hospitality was superb. The Anjoned cafe has a lovely aesthetic for anyone into old-school music. And a special mention for Billa, the brown cat who seems sleepy all day. 💕

I stayed with friends at Anjoned Hostel & Cafe in Anjuna and had a great time. It’s an easy walk to Anjuna Beach, Curlies, and Goa’s popular party spots, and the hostel itself has a super chill vibe, clean rooms, and a sociable feel. We enjoyed the cafe food and live music nights. A great pick for backpackers or groups of friends looking for comfort, community, and a proper Goa experience.
