OYO 24827 The Spot Bar Hotel

I paid a little over INR 2k per day during hot, humid April weather, and found this a comfortable place to unwind near the sea. The cabins sit about 20-30 m from the beach. You generally can't see much sea from the rooms or their verandas, apart from a few second-floor balconies, but the restaurant is only about 20 m away and has covered seating where you can spend the day looking out at the water. The property is in central Anjuna, in a fairly relaxed stretch, though Cafe Liliput has more of a party atmosphere. The restaurant is casual rather than fine dining, but cleaner than most nearby shacks, especially the kitchen. There's shaded and open-air seating, from tables to cushions on planks, and they play good lounge music and take requests. I enjoyed lounging there by the sea. The cabins were clean and had double beds with white linen, AC, a water heater, TV, fridge, kettle, closets, attached bathrooms and verandas. They felt standard for the price. Sound carries through the wooden structure, so you may hear people moving around upstairs if you're in a ground-floor cabin. During my stay, the electricity and backup had some problems, which made the cooling patchy. I'm not sure whether that was just this property or an Anjuna-wide issue, but the staff were trying to get it working again. For getting around, taxis were easy to find, and parking is right beside the property. The airport ride cost around INR 1.4k, and getting back to the airport was INR 1.5-1.6k. Chef Cantando and the Flea Market are both about a five-minute walk away, as is the taxi stand. There are plenty of regular shacks along the beach, and the popular Anjuna spots are around 1.5 km away, or a manageable 15-20 minute walk on the roads behind the property. You can reach north Anjuna by walking along the beach during the day, and the northern tip is also easy to get to that way. At night, waves flood a 50-60 m stretch, so use the slightly indirect back roads instead. To reach the southern end and Curlies, take the road behind the property because rocks block the beach route. That road goes through the flea market and was easy to follow with Google Maps. Water scooters are available about 100 m north along the beach. The staff were helpful and around whenever I needed them.

We came for an early May weekend and had a sea-view room. The balcony was spacious and we really liked it. The owner was terrific, the staff were gracious and helpful, and the bartender was awesome. Great food and hospitality too. We had a lovely time and will be back.

The AC kept fluctuating, and the place felt overpriced. For 3500, you'd expect at least a pool. There wasn't a beach view from our room, and there was a dump right outside it. Service was painfully slow, the food wasn't good, and the hookah was awful. They used low-quality coal and I felt sick afterward. Worst of all, someone on staff gave my friend's number to a creep, who texted and called her after we'd left.

The rooms were clean and decent, and we liked the food. The restaurant has a great setting right on Anjuna beach. It does close early, though, which is the main drawback since the party scene is elsewhere on the beach.
