Kabini Lake View Resort

We got lucky on safari at nagarhole tiger reserve and saw two tigers. That alone made the trip feel once in a lifetime. The resort itself is huge, beautiful, and very well maintained, beside scenic Kabini Lake with a peaceful atmosphere. Early in the morning we watched fishermen catch fish by the lake, then enjoyed the lovely sunset views later. The food was amazing, with great taste and variety, and everyone on staff was welcoming, helpful, and cordial. We had a fantastic stay and would recommend it for a nature break near Kabini.

The basics worked well: AC was fine, drinking water and hot water were available around the clock, and the map brought us there easily. Rooms and washrooms were clean, food was tasty, and the reception team and staff were friendly and cooperative. The lake view stay was quite good. There were drawbacks, though. The TV showed only half an image, there was no covered parking, and our car heated up by afternoon before it rained at night. Food options were limited, with no paneer dishes, nothing cold in the lunch buffet during peak summer, and no fish dishes, which seemed possible given the area. At 8k the resort felt overpriced, with little to do beyond staying there. Check-in was at 12 and checkout at 10:30, too early if you have a morning safari, although they said an extension was fine if asked. Even when safari is booked through them, you need to reach the departure point yourself. Our JKL boat safari was 13 km away at 5:45am.

The safari was unforgettable: we spotted two tigers, elephant herds, sambar deer, and spotted deer. Nagarhole Tiger Reserve is around 5 km away, so getting to safari was convenient. Our family stayed in the Queen’s Cottage, a peaceful room with a lovely garden view. Right beside scenic Kabini Lake, the resort is a nice setting for family picnics, nature walks, and bird watching. The staff were courteous and helpful throughout. Shiva was always there when we needed something, and property manager Lenesh was especially helpful in keeping the stay comfortable and smooth. The natural setting and hospitality made it memorable. Highly recommended for families and wildlife lovers visiting Kabini.

The room we got through MMT was the smallest possible, claustrophobic, and had no basic facilities, despite being sold as a deluxe room. There was an unbearable fungus smell. The owner made tall claims but seemed to forget them once we arrived. He had quoted 2.5k per head for the JLR Jeep safari on the phone, and that same price was on their website, but he charged us 3k per head. The food was okay, and the location was the only thing that felt worth the money. The whole experience spoiled our mood and vacation. Better to pay a little more and stay elsewhere so your money and holiday don't go to waste.
